Our Learn to Swim Instructors
Coach Amanda
Around the age of ten, Amanda joined her community swim team and continued swimming on teams through her senior year of High School. Amanda started lifeguarding and teaching swimming the Summer after her Sophomore year and continued teaching and lifeguarding while studying Graphic Design at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. After a long break and a career change, she found her way to Arlington County Park and Recreations, where she has been teaching since 2014. In the Summer of 2018, Amanda expanded her swim resume by completing her certification as a Water Fitness Instructor. Amanda is very excited to have joined Machine Performance Center in the Spring of 2019.
Coach Evan
Growing up in Virginia Beach Evan Wrenn started competitive swimming his freshman year of high school when he joined the Princess Anne High School team. He swam all four years at Princess Anne and eventually for the club team at George Mason University.
Evan has worked for Machine Aquatics since 2017 and can be found at multiple practice sites. He coaches competitive groups at the Audrey Moore, Tysons, Oakmarr, and Tuckahoe sites along with giving private and group lessons at the Machine Swim School.
Coach Robin
Robin is a mother of five who enjoys swimming. She has been a swim instructor at Oak Marr Recreation Center and started teaching at the Machine Swim School in 2013.
During the summers her children swim for the Oakton Otters, an NVSL team, and she coaches the club’s Masters group.
Robin lives in Oakton, but is originally from Alexandria. She has two B.S. degrees in Finance and Management from VA Tech. She worked for First Virginia Bank for eleven years before coaching swimming full time.
